Rachamim Care Agency was created in dedication to my mother and inspired by my personal journey as her primary caregiver.

My mother was a nurse who devoted her life to caring for others. When she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, her life changed dramatically. Over time, she lost her eyesight and her ability to walk independently. The woman who once spent her life caring for others was now faced with the profound challenge of losing her independence. Accepting help was not easy for her at first, but with time, patience, and love, she learned to allow me to assist her. She moved in with me while she could still see and walk, but as her condition progressed, her world grew smaller. Everyday tasks became impossible, and her way of life changed significantly.

Later, my mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was given six months to live. I made the difficult and deeply personal decision not to share this information with her. I felt in my heart that she did not need the burden of worrying about dying. Instead, I wanted her to focus on living. During the final year of her life, I dedicated myself to making her days as joyful, peaceful, and meaningful as possible. She never knew she had cancer and believed she was only battling rheumatoid arthritis.

Caring for my mother while raising my children and working was overwhelming at times. I sought assistance through her primary care physician and was told that Medicare would not cover the type of help she needed due to her age. Applying for Medicaid required disclosure of all household income, making approval difficult. I was informed that any additional help would need to be paid for out of pocket, yet I was given no guidance on where to turn for support—only the suggestion to ask a family friend.

So, I carried the responsibility alone. I worked, raised my boys, and cared for my mother without outside help. I would have paid anything for someone to sit with her while I was at work, help prepare meals, or assist with light housekeeping—simple support that would have made an enormous difference. But there was no one. I did it all. In the final months of her life, hospice services were introduced. Allowing them into our home was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. I told my mother they were there simply to help her daughter, not that they were hospice providers. She understood that I needed support and accepted their presence, believing they were assistance I had requested. She lived with dignity, comfort, and peace in her final days.

My mother lived a full year after her diagnosis—far longer than expected—and throughout that time, she was surrounded by love. Though the journey was exhausting and emotionally demanding, I never complained. I cared for her with pride and devotion. I put my life on hold because I knew, without question, that she would have done the same for me. My mother is no longer with us in the physical world, but her legacy lives on through Rachamim Care Agency.

I created this agency to support families who are walking the same difficult path I once walked—to remind them they are not alone. Rachamim Care Agency exists to provide compassionate, dependable companion, homemaker, and sitter services so families can have peace of mind knowing their loved ones are cared for with dignity, respect, and genuine compassion. This is more than a business. It is a mission born from lived experience, empathy, and love, a promise to families that they do not have to face caregiving alone.
